CHANEL Travel Diary Collection + VIDEO

Very late to the party, but still partying nonetheless. It’s my motto for today’s article because CHANEL’s Fall/Winter collection can just not go unnoticed. Travel Diary is inspired by a roadtrip Lucia Pica, CHANEL’s creative director and her team took. She wanted to be inspired by what’s happening in the moment, to discover magical nuances and to make her very own colour moodboard. One that I like very much. Even so much, that I made a video about it (which is below, in case you can’t wait).

Lucia and her team shot beautiful still life pictures along the US coastline. They bundled them all up and used the colors as inspiration for a 24-piece collection I was dreaming of. Star of the collection is the Palette Essentielle, a travel-friendly must-have with a concealer (very essential, quoi), a highlighter and a blush that doubles as a lip hybrid if you ask me. Shown here is the colour Medium, that was perfect for my “just got back from sunny New York teint” in the video. I adore the blush colour too, it’s a burgundy red that can be used as a sheer hint of something or a dramatic scream for attention on plump-looking cheeks.

This collection is full of lip options, there’s a Rouge Allure Ink in Highway if you desire a washed out coral, a beautiful nude Rouge Coco in Daylight and my favourite of them all, Rouge Allure Velvet in First Light. I’m wearing that last one in the video below and it’s simply stunning. I’ve been wearing it all Indian Summer long and it might be my favourite red Rouge Allure Velvet ever.

Now all lovers of easy and long-lasting eyeshadow options, listen up. There’s a gem in this collection called Ombre Première in Memory (there are some left here), which is the very best of all single eyeshadows in 2017 and beyond if you ask me. It’s taupe/deep brown/copper-like, a little bit shimmery, goes one with a single gesture and stays put until you take it off. It’s a dream which I’m mercifully dedicating an entire paragraph to.

Other eyeshadow eye-catchers are Les 4 Ombres in City Light (shown below) and Road Movie. Over the last years, I believe with the arrival of Lucia Pica, the quality and pigmentation of these palettes has improved so much. Even today, this Les 4 Ombres in Candeur & Experience is still one of my absolute favourites. Road Movie is definitely for the more adventurous out there, but beautiful nonetheless.

While nail polish is usually not my forte, these two colours went straight in to my stash. Le Vernis Longue Tenue in Horizon Line and New Dawn are both beautiful in their simplicity. This is something CHANEL knows how to master so well, the colours are spot on.

Also starring in this edit are some new brushes, like the Pinceau Teint 2-in-1 for powder and liquid. It’s a dense kabuki that’s great for blending in your base, it also made its way into my brushes for daily use-pile. Next to that one, I’ve been using the Pinceau Duo Paupières Retractable as a handbag staple. Easy to reapply or distribute eyeshadow on-the-go.

You’ll find all the pictures and a collection overview/get ready with me/what’s in my bag video below. Wait, what? A video?! Well yes. I’ve been shooting some content because I want to get better at creating videos. You know me already as a true CHANEL aficionado and I wanted to create something special around this collection. When it arrived, just when I got back from NYC, it inspired me to be more adventurous and I loved the feeling it gave me. The colours spoke to me and I wanted to remind myself of this moment and inspire others with it.

Back in October, I enjoyed shooting and editing the images but then, my inner-perfectionist got in my way. While this video is not perfect and I wish some things were different, I’m still proud of the result and I’m happy to finally share it with all of you. I can only hope it inspires you, even if it’s just a little bit. So it’s up a little bit later than planned but – lucky you – all products are still available and I’ve put a list together below. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to hear what you think.
